In his decades-spanning practice, Arturo Ho brings to life visual artwork inspired by nature, inspirational figures, and life around us. He creates distinctly styled artwork from his home in the Washington, DC area.

For more than 20 years, Arturo has focused on working in diverse communities, schools, and with youth to collaborate and create murals, mosaics, and various multimedia projects. With a background in illustration and fine art, Arturo also offers collaboration-based art projects, consultation on art related projects, art classes, and murals for young people. Rather than focus on one approach, Arturo works with variety of media and techniques. He is inspired by many positive influences and ideas of expression and enjoys the new possibilities that come from working with different people and communities.

WORKSHOPS, RESIDENCIES, & MASTER CLASSES

Arturo’s students are inspired to create, discover, communicate, and connect with different people and perspectives through art.

FOR SCHOOL SETTINGS

Workshops

Custom-tailored workshops, scheduled as single workshops or in series, can focus on a variety of 2-D techniques and result in ether individual or collaborative artworks. Workshop sessions can each include a classroom-sized (or smaller) group of students and are typically structured around a unique idea, theme, or curriculum connection.

Multi-Day Residency

Custom-tailored residencies can focus on a variety of 2-D techniques and result in ether individual or collaborative artworks. Residencies explore universal themes like home, community, or transformation, or complement curricular areas like math, science, engineering, or social studies. Residencies are typically scheduled over the course of 5 days and can include several workshops each day, with each workshop including a classroom-sized (or smaller) group of students.

Two-Day Residency

This focused residency will result in a collaborative 6'x4' painted mural and can include up to six workshops in one day. This program is best for a smaller number of students – for example, a single grade level, or a full day with a middle/high school art class – and can be structured around a unique idea, theme, or curriculum connection. The residency typically starts with an "intro & sketch day" with students, then continues with mural creation workshops on day two.

FOR ADDITIONAL SETTINGS

Master Class

Participants hone skills in drawing or painting and gain confidence as they discover techniques and overcome challenges. May be custom-tailored for a range of ages and experience levels in a variety of settings, including libraries, public events, celebrations, and special occasions.

Mixed Medium Virtual Art Workshop

In this virtual workshop, students will be guided in an hour-long lesson in painting, learning the how-tos of techniques and medium mixing in order to come up with the desired finish of their unique work of art. The process is demonstrated step by step on-screen throughout the session, with questions answered along the way. Participants should provide materials from their home, school, or other setting and workshops may be adapted to suit a range of materials available (a good starter kit might include a watercolor set, pencil, marker set, Sharpie, black India ink, small fine brush, and medium sized brush). Workshops may be scheduled alone or in series, and are a best fit for students in grades 6 & up.
